Which Wembley Event Day permit you need

Start with your street. Brent's event day permits are for people who live in the event day zone but outside a Controlled Parking Zone. Brent's CPZ map shows by postcode whether your street is in a zone.

The four permits. All four cost £15, and all four are bought through a Brent parking account on RingGo:

  • Resident Permit: for residents of the zone, including private roads in the scheme, and virtual, so it is valid from the date you choose
  • Visitor Permit: bought by a resident for their own visitors, sent as a physical permit by post, with a limit of two per household
  • Business Permit: for businesses with premises in the zone, and virtual
  • Place of worship or school permit: for recognised places of worship and schools in the zone, up to 20 each

How long they last. Brent's permits page gives three years for the Resident, Visitor and Business Permits.

Applying. RingGo's application has three stages: register or log in, complete the application form, then buy the permit once the application is approved.

What to have ready:

  • proof of residency dated within the last three months: a bank statement, a gas, electricity, water or telephone bill, a council tax bill or a driving licence
  • for the Resident Permit, proof that the vehicle is registered at your address: the V5C, a hire or lease agreement, a dealer's sales invoice, an employer's letter for a company car, or an insurance schedule with at least three months left to run

Photographs of documents are accepted.

Two vehicle rules. A Resident Permit is not valid on a vehicle with an unladen weight over 3.5 tonnes, and RingGo warns that a permit issued to one can still bring a Penalty Charge Notice. The vehicle also must not hold a valid Resident parking permit at any other address.

Changing car or address. The Resident Permit is non-transferable. Any change means cancelling the permit and applying again.

Private roads: residents yes, visitors no. If you live on a private road in the scheme, you can buy a Resident Permit. You cannot buy Visitor Permits at all, so the household's own cars are covered and its visitors are not.

Buy the Visitor Permit before you need it. It is posted out once payment has been received, so it cannot be bought on the afternoon of an event.

Not for event-goers. Brent sells these permits only to residents, businesses, places of worship and schools in the zone, so someone going to an event cannot buy one. Our getting here page covers the trains and the official car parks.

Blue Badge holders. The free Resident Blue Badge Permit is a separate permit, open to residents of twelve zones. Our parking page lists them.

Is it worth £15? Brent's enforcement data lists 40 event days in 2024 and 50 in 2025. One Resident Permit covers three years of them.
