A Wembley Event Day, hour by hour
What this covers. A Wembley Event Day runs from the first parking restriction in the morning to the last one at midnight. The times below come from Brent Council and the stadium's residents' page. The after-show part is what we see from Forty Lane, where we live.
8am: the Main Roads. Event day restrictions start on the Main Roads to the stadium, and in the Controlled Parking Zones within the event day zone. Zone SA starts at 10am instead, and zone T is restricted around the clock, event or not.
10am: the Residential Streets. Residential areas outside a Controlled Parking Zone follow at 10am, which Brent describes as the general rule. From then until midnight, only permit holders can park there.
About four hours before the start: the first road closures. The stadium's residents' page for its summer 2026 events lists these full closures from about four hours before the event starts:
- Atlantic Crescent and Pacific Crescent
- South Way, from Wembley Hill Road to Pink Parking
- Engineers Way, from Empire Way to First Way
- Fulton Road, from Empire Way to Albion Way
- Rutherford Way, open to residents and deliveries only
The fan zones. The stadium's fan zones open at the same point and close 30 minutes before the start.
Buses on the way in. The stadium lists the 18, 92 and 206 as diverted before an event. Bus lanes usually keep them moving, but at points like Forty Lane they get caught in the traffic.
Trains. The stadium lists enhanced services at two stations and a normal one at the third:
- Wembley Park: Metropolitan and Jubilee lines, enhanced
- Wembley Stadium: Chiltern Railways, enhanced
- Wembley Central: Bakerloo and Lioness lines, normal service
During the event. The Main Roads around the stadium are busy with cars and Ubers, and traffic moves slower than on an ordinary day.
After the show: a second set of closures. When the event ends, the stadium closes different roads:
- Empire Way
- London Road
- Ecclestone Place, with no access from Wembley Hill Road
- the Wembley Triangle, with no access to Wembley Hill Road from Wembley High Road, Ecclestone Place or the A404 Harrow Road
Buses on the way out. After the event, the stadium lists the 83, 182, 223, 224 and 483 as diverted.
Olympic Way and Kings Drive. On foot, the crowd fills Olympic Way on its way to Wembley Park station. Part of it spills over onto Kings Drive to meet Ubers, and Kings Drive is also where people wait to collect friends and family from the show.
Ecclestone Place and the Triangle. After a show, people pack in here looking for cabs, walking back to the hotels, or getting something to eat at McDonald's.
Cabs and Ubers follow different rules. Brent lets black cabs use bus lanes, but private hire vehicles must not. Uber drivers in London are licensed as private hire.
How long it takes to clear. The Main Roads usually clear an hour or two after the event ends, depending on how big it was. On Forty Lane, the traffic is usually gone about an hour and a half after the show.
Midnight. The event day restrictions end on every street except zone T.
If you would rather be inside. Brent aims to run a residents' ballot for each stadium event. Adults living in the Wembley Event Day Impact Zone can enter once per event, and a winning entry gets two free tickets. Ballots typically open six to eight weeks before the event.
Which days this applies to. The parking restrictions above apply only on the days Brent lists as Wembley Event Days, and an Arena-only night is not one of them.
